I second this idea. My old gps-based datalogger had this as a feature called "Time since last here". It would tell me how much time it took to get at every point on the track . I found it really helpful as traffic in the middle of a lap can skew potential lap times. I also liked this feature because I never had to set start/end points or sector markers.

Thanks Jeff. I realize that I can approximate this feature by setting splits around each turn, but I thought it might be fun to have instantaneous updates :-).

This feature is there somewhat. As you cross each split marker, it give you a +/- time delta indication. It also colors the time red or green. You also get a similar +/- time delta for the lap. Let me investigate whether a continuous time delta indication is feasible. The only issues with this would be processor power (there is already a lot of calculations running) and screen space.

Jeff

Ok, I probably could have put this into the Relative speed indicator thread, but I think both features might be nice as different indicators...

In some video games you have an indicator in seconds that tells you how much faster or slower you are vs your fastest lap. This indicator is constantly updating as you move around the track. It zeros out as you cross the start/finish line, and then continuously compares how long it took you to get to the current position on the track on this lap vs how long it took on the fastest lap.

I think an indicator of this type would be a cool way to find faster lines through a corner. I would just have to check the relative lap time indicator before corner entry and then again after corner entry, and thus I can see if I am bettering my lap time.

I guess the algorithm is something like this:
Relative Lap Time = (Time to current location on the track for fastest lap) - (Time to current location on the track for current lap)

Thanks!
Michael
