Qstarz on dash - I'll post up the dataset. I have no idea what is going on but the qstarz had me riding through the fields and in the stream next to the track. I checked my bike and other than grasshoppers there is no evidence I did that. ;)

I did see that arrangement. I'd rather avoid drilling the triples. However, the main bolt that holds it together is hollow, so I could fabricate a mount that uses a smaller bolt through the triple. Just need some free time for some redneck engineerin.

Not sure if you saw this post, but you can see how he mounted to his triple clamp. He made a simple bracket and attached the phone mount to it. Then drilled the triple mount to attach it.

Message Link

I'm surprised you had a problem with mounting the QStarz at the dash. Did not the phone not connect to the QStarz or were you not getting GPS signal?

Jeff

Ok - the TM mount involves the inside pocket of my suit, but it all works. First I got TM and the QStarz talking w/ the bluetooth service. Easy setup and works really well. At the track though I first tried putting the QStarz up on the 'dash' area of my bike. That didnt not work very well. I'm not sure what screwed things up but it did't work at all. So instead I put the QStarz in the bike's tail section where it has a clear view of the sky:

Nothing complicated in this: just got all red neck with the ductape so it won't gets thrown off.

Before a session: turn on the QStarz, start TM, let them find the satelite and start your session. Put your android in a safe pocket and off you go.

Because of this arrangement I can't see my lap times during my session. However, I have an XT Racing timer on my bike so I can see my times from it:

yeah - I like tape.

This way I can see my laptimes while riding and the XT Racing thing is very accurate with its timing - or at least is my primary reference.
What TM is giving me is information about how well I'm transitioning from throttle to brakes. The XT can't do that.

Hope this gives other people ideas. I'd like to build a secure mount that could hold the phone on my tripleclamp so I can see its dash. I have a mototool and I'm not afraid to use it.
