USB GPS in Host Mode

Just a thought, would it be advantageous to use a USB gps receiver to log GPS instead of the bluetooth receivers? What kind of refresh rate do the USB models have? Are there any android drivers out there for USB receivers?

Android doesn't support a USB serial API unfortunately. And the USB GPS devices I have seen require a big USB-A plug on the connector end. I'm not aware of any phone that supports that. It's pretty big compared to the small micro-USB.

There are all sorts of USB adapters and gender changers out on the market. I own an adapter that would do the job -- but, if there are no drivers and no USB-Serial API support, thats where it ends. thanks for the response!

This would be an alternative for all us SPP challenged users.

The HTC Eris comes with a male USB to miniUSB cable, so all that is needed is a USB GPS and a male USB to female USB adapter.
