Overlay multiple runs
6/14/10 8:15 AM
Is there anyway to overlay two runs on Trackmaster? I would like to compare two different runs/laps for differences. Also, the ability to align these runs at any chosen point would allow me to compare sections of the track. Is this possible or planned?
Thanks

You can do this using Google Earth. Use the Share option to export your data to Google Earth format. Then in Google Earth select the laps that you would like to compare. You can also replay your data.

I can get google earth to do it. I need to figure it out more but it appears to require a laptop. Could this be added to the app? It would really help for autocross where I need to view the data fast. MaxQ has a similar feature where you can overlay laps, pick points, and see speeds, g's, etc for runs vs runs. This would be a great benefit as right now I can't really use it to see improvements run to run.
Thanks for any feedback.

Yeah, Google Earth requires a laptop. I added this to the new feature list so that you can do the overlay on the phone. It won't be able to make the next release (v2.3 next week), but should be able to make the one after that.

Thanks so much. I will look forward to that option. I really think it will help a lot. I think it would be the best if we had the option to remove all colors ( Acc, brake, etc) and just have the two runs selected be different colors, this would allow for the small differences in race lines to be seen. Maybe we could pick points along the routes and see the corresponding data (speed, acc, brake, g's, ect) from the two selected runs. The ability to line up the two runs together at any point on the track would be very important too (this allows certain areas of a course to be evaluated individually) . I know a few people with the MaxQ software and I envy their ability to evaluate certain areas against multiple runs with overlay. I really hope I am not asking too much. I really appreciate the software and all the work you are putting into it. I think its shaping up nicely and I cant wait for the next releases.
Thanks again.

Lap/run overlays are now supported in v2.4. Check it out:

I can see how to overlay multiple laps but can't seem to overlay different sessions? Is this possible or will I need to log differently?

Sorry, you can only overlay laps from the same session and not across sessions.

Jeff,

I was wondering if you could expand on the overlay...instead of having the overlay in the regular view mode, Is it possible to have it overlay in the graph mode? The graph mode to me is a bit more useful than regular view mode.

Thanks again for making a great app! emoticon

Are you referring to the interactive lap graph? Can you provide more details?

Hi Jeff,

Sorry I don't what the graph is called so i'll just post a image instead emoticon

Is it possible to compare laps in this graph mode instead (this would be more like telemetry that i'm use too)? If you could also zoom into the map (to be more accurate of my location) and have clickable settings (click on/off g's/accel/altitude), i think would be more useful to me rather than the other overlay. Is this possible at all?

Another thing is it possible to save the whole image rather than just sections? Or will this be possible with MyTrackmaster?

Thanks again!
