Data resolution
Data resolution

It looks like the data points are taken at one second intervals. Is there a way to increase the frequency to maybe every half second? Or is this limited by the hardware (i realize we are working with a phone here!)?
I am using this for autocross, so the lap times are fairly short, and increased resolution might be nice.

Thanks!

Yes, the 1hz sampling is a limitation of the phone hardware. To get a higher rate GPS, you'll need to use an external bluetooth GPS. A Qstarz 5Hz unit is good choice. Trackmaster supports bluetooth via an add-on. You can read more here:

A friend has an HTC EVO and a BT-Q818X that claims to have a 5HZ data rate. When we do an Excel scatter graph on the GPS data, I get the attached results. Is this going to be typical. I plan to use this setup in an autocross environment. I am wondering if a 10 hz device would be better.

It would be helpful to see the raw data, but the data should be more evenly spaced.

Something doesn't seem to be right with this GPS unit. It appears to be going back and forth between 1Hz and 5Hz.

Would it be possible to post the excel data from a more textbook data log from a race vehicle and at least a few laps of a track. I am playing with a spreadsheet to develop additional data regarding the drivers racing line, smoothness....

My email is awhittle at NCS <hyphen> STL <dot> com if that is easier

Thanks
