Jeff Trackaroo:
Remote sync allows MyTrackmaster.com to request a data sync with your device. Say for instance you added a split marker set to your data on MyTrackmaster.com, a sync will now be requested immediately. This should allow you to see data changes from the cloud more quickly on your device. Previously, you would need to wait until your next scheduled sync to see the cloud changes.
Jeff
Very interesting.
As I have written in other parts of this forum, I'm evaluating Trackmaster as a master timing system for the United States Sprint Boat Association (http://ussbaracing.com). Initial vehicle mounted tests have proven promising, especially with the Qstarz B818XT GPS receiver. We'll be testing in a boat in the next few weeks.
My biggest technical challenge is to provide time updates to our display system so that running and split time can be displayed to the crowd.
Our tracks do not necessarily have reliable connections to the Internet, so we cannot rely on trackmaster.com to display the data. However, each track will have its own self-contained 802.11b/g/n network that will cover the entire track and display servers.
Do you suppose that remote sync could be used to query the lap timer in real-time, say once per second?
Yours is the most promising timing system we've encountered. The speeds and splash zones make for a harsh environment for trackside equipment.
Jeff, I'd love to discuss this further with you. The USSBA may even be willing to fund a custom version if we can prove it works. Please contact me when you can.
